My history as a tennis player and coach

I have been playing tennis since the age of 7 and during that time I have had exposure to some of the best tennis coaching in the country.

My early years of playing tennis were spent at South Leeds Tennis Centre, coached by Matt Breese. Matt is a greatly experienced Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) coach and has recently been appointed as LTA Area Manager.

As an early teenager I was coached by Chris Hewitt and Derek Munro, a very much respected figure in Yorkshire tennis, and then moved on to the national LTA facilities at Leeds Met Carnegie Tennis Centre.

It was at Leeds Met that I was coached by Laurence Kelly who coached Andrew Murray as a junior. I learned a tremendous amount from Laurence, from his advice on how to improve my own game, but also by taking note of his coaching methods and I am still using some of them in my sessions today.

Not wanting to relax in my tennis development, I have continued to invest my time in improving my game and picking up new coaching methods through my attendance at two development courses at LaManga club in southern Spain.
